Engineer your life

My projects

When I was at the Univeristy of Toledo College of Engineering. I had to do a capstone project for the final year and I joined a cool group of seven students and we decided to go ahead and make a new invention no one had ever invented before. It was the "Automatic incline/decline wheel chair". The project was one of its kind, and we really competed with many other projects at the convention/expo held at the main campus.

Below are some pics taken at the Expo :

The main idea was to allow the user to use the wheel chair efficiently going up or down a stamp with an incline angles that are really hard for the user to maneuver in public places and different weather conditions. Our solution, was complex and looks simple at the same time. It included a control box "barin" of the whole system fixed behind the chair, inclinometer/level sensor and an actuator that retracts and expands pushing the front two wheel downwards lifting the seat to normal horizontal level not letting the user to fall if the wheel chair was going donwards. This effectivley solved the problem and helped the user from not straiining his/her lower back and avoiding body injuries.
